Meet the Makers | Wild North

Introducing our Makers: meet Laura Wigham, Founder of Wild North Studio
Laura is a printmaker and illustrator whose art celebrates the folklore, nature, and quiet magic of the North. With a joyful, whimsical style, she keeps the stories of stone circles, wild seas, and untouched woodlands alive in vibrant colour. Wild North encourages slow living, reconnecting with the landscape, and celebrating all things wild and Northern.
Her process begins with collages and drawings, which then evolve into linocut and woodcut prints. Each piece has its own character and story — Laura often hand-paints onto the block, layering expressive lines and vibrant colours into every print.
Sustainability is at the heart of Laura’s work. Wood for woodcutting is sourced from a local guitar maker and from Newcastle Wood Recycling, where her studio is based. She uses natural lino, composts any offcuts, and repurposes wood scraps as fuel for the studio.
