Our Story
April 11 is a new shop, studio and community space that champions the work of new and established makers from across the North of England and Scotland.
Co-founders Bethany and Miranda first met after moving back to the North East from London, connecting over their shared background in fashion and design, and a mutual love for the rich heritage of arts and crafts in the North.
They launched April 11 to create a space in the heart of Durham that celebrates local makers and the beauty of slow, thoughtful production—while also sharing those stories with a wider community beyond the region.
With Bethany’s background as a print designer, the space also includes a working design studio, where they create and produce their own range of homeware and prints, and offer workshops where people can learn a new skill and connect with others.
Together, they’re building a space where creativity, community, and craftsmanship can thrive.
