Emily is a potter who creates sculptural stoneware forms and functional pieces inspired by folk art, vintage design, and the natural world. Based in Lancashire, her work often explores themes of self, society, and the wider world. In this workshop Emily will be demonstrating how to hand build a pot - a technique that involves shaping clay by hand without using a pottery wheel. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced makers, you will explore the various hand building techniques and create your own clay piece which Emily will take away to fire - once fired we can either post your finished piece out to you, or book into our second workshop with Emily taking place in April where you can learn how to decorate your item using a marbling technique.
